Man charged in fatal ATV crash will be arraigned in June

A South Dakota man facing charges stemming from a fatal ATV crash in Northeast, Nebraska, last year, is set to be arraigned next month.

26-year old Derrik Nelson is is charged with vehicular homicide, failure to render aid, and other crimes. He is set to be arraigned June 11 in Cedar County Court.

Nebraska court records say Nelson was intoxicated when he crashed his ATV near Fordyce on June 29. Twenty-one-year-old Jessi Anderson died in the accident.

Nelson’s father, 64-year-old J. Douglas Nelson, is also charged with being an accessory.  Prosecutors say he disassembled the ATV after the crash in an effort to hide evidence.
