What’s new on NBC

Monday marks the start of a big week for the broadcast TV networks.  The annual "upfront" presentations that reveal fall schedules are taking place in New York City.

NBC is first out of the gate this morning.

Ryan Eggold, formerly of "The Blacklist," returns to NBC Tuesdays this fall, shaking things up in the medical drama "New Amsterdam," based on New York’s legendary Bellevue Hospital.

Life gets complicated for passengers who survive a turbulent flight in "Manifest", a drama slated for Mondays after "The Voice."

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt describes the drama as "essentially a family show at its core, but it’s got a big twist."

Another big twist finds the popular police comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" landing on NBC.  Fox cancelled the show last week, but NBC’s sister studio created it, so the peacock
rescued it for mid season.

"We’re just happy to get it back," Greenblatt says.  "We think it will fit the kind of comedies we’re known for."

NBC will also debut a new comedy this fall.  "I Feel Bad" is from executive producer Amy Poehler.  It’s about a mom, wife and career woman trying to cope with life’s imperfections.

Favorites "This Is Us", "Will and Grace", "Superstore" and "The Good Place" will all return in the fall.  "The Blacklist" will return at mid-season.

Still up in the air is the fate of cult hit, "Timeless".   The finale of the time travel drama aired last night. The network will decide in the coming days whether it was a season finale or a series finale.
