Vehicle collides with retaining wall at entrance to Arnolds Park Amusement Park

A single vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 71 at the entrance to the Arnolds Park Amusement Park sent one person to the hospital.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Mathew Kelly of Spirit Lake was southbound when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle left the road and collided with a retaining wall.

Kelly was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with possible minor injuries.

The Okoboji and Milford Police Departments, Arnolds Park Fire and Rescue, and Bob Yske Towing assisted on the scene.

The crash took place shortly before 8:00 am.
