The Arnolds Park city council was updated Wednesday night on plans by Imagine Iowa Great Lakes for the beautification of the amusement park water front area and promenade.
The updated plans were presented by an engineer overseeing some of the planning and designs for the beautification entity.
Plans include a wooden board walk along the amusement park waterfront from Zephyr Drive to the beach and volleyball courts, with a concrete walkway behind it and some grasses on the other side of the concrete.
Plans for the promenade include some natural stone pillars, prairie plantings, some bio retention features and walk and bike paths, along with decorative lighting and planters.
Beautification along Lake Street through the amusement park area will get underway in the fall of 2019, once construction of the new Roof Garden is complete.
As for the time frame for the projects, Engineer Brad Beck of Beck Engineering told the council they still plan to start work in that area this fall with the goal of having that part of the project done by next spring.
But he said that could hinge on the timing of some permits needed for the boardwalk project.
