Semi driver hits bridges near Sloan, IA

The Iowa State Patrol said 61-year-old Lowell Bittner of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was driving on Interstate 29 southbound near Sloan when the towed portion of a house struck two bridges.

The Patrol said Bittner was driving southbound and was eventually located near Missouri Valley.

Lieutenant Don Armstrong with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office said there is minor debris on the road and a bridge inspector is checking the bridges for structural damage at mile marker 131-8 and mile marker 129-8.

Lt. Armstrong said a person driving on I-29 called the incident into the sheriff’s office around 8 a.m. Friday.

The Patrol said there were no injuries.
