The Annual Floyd Memorial Encampment takes locals back in time

Step back in time to 1804 at the annual Sergeant Floyd Memorial Encampment

Where the history camp is replicating the Lewis and Clark Expedition’s stay in present day Sioux City. 

Locals got to come and enjoy this free event, visiting with old historical figures.

This year was the actual date of Sergeant Charles Floyd’s death on August 20th, 1804.

Authentic tents, camp equipment, uniforms, and plenty more were showcased, bringing history to life. 

The event is sponsored by the Sioux City public museum, Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center.
