DECISION 2018: Scholten responds to King’s refusal to debate

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – JD Scholten is taking Iowa Congressman Steve King to task for refusing to debate.

Scholten is the Democratic nominee for the 4th District seat that’s been held by the Republican King for 18 years.

Scholten recently released a YouTube video challenging King to debate him ahead of the November election.

It’s an invitation King has declined.

At his campaign headquarters in Sioux City Friday, Scholten said voters deserve to hear from both candidates.

“People wanna know what the next twenty years are going to look like,” said Scholten. “We’re losing population and so especially in this district when we graduate our kids from high school either they go into the workforce or they go to college and a majority of them don’t come back,”

Scholten says if elected, he hopes to help Sioux City kids by bringing in technology and by modernizing different programs.
