SIOUX CITY (KTIV)- Several crew members from the USS Sioux City were honored Thursday night at the 2018 Siouxland Chamber Dinner.
Two sailors from the littoral combat ship were honored Thursday at the dinner.
One came from each crew that will operate the Sioux City… the “gold” crew, and the “blue” crew.
They were honored as “Sailor of the Year”, which the ship’s commander says is the equivalent of an “Employee of the Year”.
Receiving this award is no easy feat.
“So they have to show leadership, integrity, ethics, and the core values of the Navy,” said CMDR Randy Malone, USS Sioux City.
The USS Sioux City will be commissioned at the U.S. Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday, November 17th.
Commander Malone added that Friday, November 16th, is “Siouxland Day”, and all Siouxlanders are encouraged to attend.
