VERMILLION, South Dakota (KTIV) –  With just days to go until the midterm election, candidates are making their rounds, stumping for support.

Wednesday in South Dakota, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Billie Sutton met with voters in Vermillion.

He’s currently on a 19-stop South Dakota Strong Tour, throughout the Rushmore State.

The South Dakota State Senator says South Dakotans need to embrace the state’s agricultural and rural way of life.

Sutton says he can work across party lines and find common ground.

“I think we can do that. I’ve shown that we can do that. I’ve chosen a Republican as my running mate,” said State Senator Billie Sutton, (D) South Dakota Candidate for Governor, “We have the same values as South Dakotans. We all believe in honest, interiority and hard work and I think we’ve really seen that that’s what our state government needs right now. With the scandals that we’ve seen we need a shakeup and I think it’s time for a change.”

Sutton also made a stop in Yankton on Wednesday.
