SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Sioux City’s first dispensary of medical cannabis will soon be opening.
MedPharm Iowa is putting the finishing touches on its Sioux City location off Sunnybrook Drive.
People with prescriptions will be able to go to the location, once it’s open, to buy cannabidiol products.
There are a few different steps that costumers can expect when they walked through the doors.
“So the first thing they are going to see is obviously our MedPharm signs. The second thing they will see is our security guard, who is responsible for ensuring safety and security of our entire building,” says Stephen Wilson, Head of MedPharm dispensary operations.
But, there are a few things you’ll need to bring with you.
“They’ll need to have both their state-issued ID card. That could be either a drivers license or any other state-issued government identification as well as their medical cannabis card that’s been issued by the DOT,” says Wilson.
After you’ve presented those items and checked in, you’ll meet with a consultant.
“The first thing they’ll do is they’ll work with the consultant at one of our specialized stations that will have an app on an IPad that we have specially designed to contain information on all of our products, formulations as well as information about medical cannabis itself,” says Wilson.
Wilson says the consultant will decide which product will be best for the patient.
“Each product and formulation might be different depending on what condition they’ve been certified for, what symptoms they’re exhibiting and other things like that,” says Wilson. “So, we take all of that into consideration when we decide which product they want to purchase.”
Once all of that has been decided, the customer will get their product.
