SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) – Sioux City Transit customers visiting Southern Hills Mall are going to be better protected from the elements, thanks to a local women’s organization.

The Junior League of Sioux City decided to build a bus stop shelter for those who wait for transportation.
Members of the local organization say a recent study shows heavy traffic surrounds the area near the Southern Hills Mall.
The group wants riders to be as comfortable as possible, while they wait for bus transportation.

“All of our projects are presented through membership and then we vote on it. I feel that the Junior League members were just passionate about really servicing the needs of people who take the transit every day.” said Nadine Meis, Junior League Committee Chair.

The 10-thousand-dollar cost of the structure was generated by funds from the group’s store, The Discovery Shop on West 7th.
Women who are members of the Junior League of Sioux City also took part in the construction of the bus stop.
