Massive Christmas lights display returns to Lake Park

LAKE PARK, Iowa (KTIV) – A Christmas light display that would make Clark Griswold envious is back this holiday season.

Lueders Family Christmas lights can be found at 1078 110th Street. Roxie Leuders says it’s even bigger and better than last year.

“It takes us anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to put it up, depending on what the weather does.” Says Leuders “We do start checking lights clear back in August when it’s still nice outside, it makes it a little easier on us, and each year we try to add something new. This year we added four or five new things and did a little rearranging, so it looks a little different.”

Lueders adds they’ll have an added reason to visit their display this weekend. “Santa Clause is coming to see and he’s bringing his elves and he has a snow friend he brings along too. And he has candy for everyone…parents included. We encourage people to come out. We have heaters going in the place where Santa sits and you can come out and take pictures, have your kids tell Santa what their wishes are and get some candy and enjoy the lights with us Saturday night.”

Leuders says they’re also accepting donations for the Sioux Falls VA Hospital’s Buddy Basket program that benefits homeless veterans

The display will continue to be lit every evening from 5:30 P.M. until 10:30 P.M. through New Year’s Eve.
