Federal employees sue government over no pay

The U.S. government starts the New Year with a new lawsuit.

EPA physical scientist Loreen Targos said, “Federal workers are going to be penalized for not paying their bills on time when we just want to go back to work.”

The American Federation of Government employees is suing the government for forcing “essential” employees to work paycheck-free during the partial shutdown.

President Donald Trump said, “It’s not going to be open until we have a wall, a fence, whatever they’d like to call it.”

Roughly 25% of the government has been affected by the shutdown.

The president wants 5 Billion dollars for the wall.

Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer issued a statement Monday, Saying “the President is using the government shutdown to try and force expensive and ineffective wall upon the American people.”

So while Washington, D.C. tries to sort out the impasse with the President, workers have to wait it out.
