Sticking To Your New Year’s Resolutions

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE (KTIV) – New Year’s resolutions often sound exciting and easy to accomplish.

But for many people, commitment can be frustrating.

New Year, New Me, that’s usually the attitude when we flip over the calendar to January.

Spending more time with family, getting a promotion and even weight loss are resolutions, to name a few.

When it comes to being healthy, employees at local health clubs say weight loss requires a commitment.

Consistency, healthy foods and lots of water are some of the ingredients for good results.

The Norm Waitt Senior YMCA in South Sioux City today invited residents to a free gym day, to help get those resolutions going.

“A lot of people tend to set outcomes for themselves and instead of the behaviors that are going to help them reach that goal,” says Hannah Hemingson, Marketing and Development Dir., Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA. “You say you want to lose twenty pounds ok yes that’s great and that’s a wonderful goal to have but what are you going to do to help you achieve that? Are you getting a gym membership are you having enough water? are you eating a healthy diet”?

One of the Y’s 3500 members spoke with us during his workout about the new year and resolutions.

“People always find something about themselves that they don’t like and new years is just the start of a new goal for them and its a good day to start their new life,” Tom Renfro, Norm Waitt Sr. Y-M-C-A member.

The Y’s New Year’s free gym day goes until 8 PM.

The facility also offers a variety of workout classes.
