(NBC News) Congressional leaders will visit the White House Friday for more talks aimed at ending the ongoing shutdown.
President Trump’s border wall remains the main obstacle.
“I have never had so much support as I have in the last week over my stance for border security,” the president said Thursday.
He’s going head to head with new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who refuses to pay for the wall. She says it’s immoral.
“This is not a wall between Mexico and the United States that the President is creating here. It’s a wall between reality and his constituents,” Pelosi said.
The new Democratic House of Representatives on Thursday approved the plan to reopen the government, but with no money for the wall, Republicans in the Senate, who passed something similar last fall, refuse to consider it.
