Crew hits gas line during construction on Stone Park Blvd.

UPDATE:

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – No one was was hurt following a gas leak on the intersection of Stone Park Boulevard and Blackstone Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Sioux City Fire Rescue was called to the leak shortly after 1 p.m.

No gas was detected in the home.

Firefighters say the incident happened while construction was taking place.

“It appears that a city crew was doing some repairs in the street on Blackstone Avenue when they struck a gas line. And at this time there is no danger,” said Robert Wilson, Asst. Fire Chief of Sioux City Fire Rescue.

The leak was contained within 10 minutes of when crews arrived.

Authorities are asking for motorists to seek an alternate route as they work on the leak.
