HARTINGTON, Nebraska (AP) – A caregiver has pleaded not guilty to stealing from a Nebraska man she’s been helping.

Twenty-eight-year-old Kayla Hansen, of Coleridge, entered a written “not guilty” plea to allegedly stealing more than $14,000 from a Nebraska man.

Court records say Hansen cleaned the man’s house and drove him to medical appointments.

The documents also say she had to access to his bank account and debit card — and used them to pay her own bills and those of relatives.

Among other related crimes, Hansen is charged with the abuse of a vulnerable adult.
