LINCOLN, NE (KTIV) –The third-ranked Iowa wrestling team beat #9 Nebraska, 20-13 on Sunday. The Hawkeyes have now beaten the Huskers 11 straight times.

At 184 pounds, OA-BCIG grad Cash Wilcke, ranked 13th, looked like he was heading to overtime against fourth-ranked Tyler Venz. But Wilcke got a a takedown with five seconds left. That extended his lead to 5-2 and erased what could have been a riding time point for Venz.

Wilcke earned his first career win against a top-five opponent, after losing in his first ten tries.

“It feels great,” said Wilcke. “I try not to think about the dual and that kind of stuff, just staying in my match. I knew it was a big match, not only for the team, but for me. It feels good to finally get a big win. I tell myself I’m a contender and I can beat every guy that’s on the line with me and today I proved that.”

Wilcke is now 14-3 on the season. The Hawkeyes host Maryland on Friday.
