Local dentist offers free dental care for kids for national “Give Kids a Smile” Day

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A local dentist office gave kids a reason to smile Wednesday by providing free dental care.

Dr. Dona W. Prince’s dental office offered free dental screenings, cleanings, fluoride, x-rays, and dental education to low-income families as part of the National “Give Kids a Smile” Program.

The American Dental Association founded the “Give Kids a Smile” Program in 2003 as a way for dentists and their staff to give back to the community by volunteering their time and services to help underserved children.

Prince and six staff members provided the screenings on Wednesday. She says they do it for the families they are able to give back to.

“I think its great that the families take the time to bring their kids in, so they obviously value it because they want their kids to be here, and we have families that come back year after year because they know we do this,” said  Prince.

Free dental screenings for kids 18 and under at Dr. Price’s office, 4220 Sergeant Rd., will run until 5 p.m. You are asked to call for an appointment at (712) 274-2228.
