SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Tyson Events Center will host the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship for four years beginning in 2021.

Sioux City has hosted the NAIA Division-II women’s tournament for the past 21 years. The NAIA will be shifting to one division in basketball for men and women beginning in the 2020-2021 season.

“From the very beginning of the move to one division in NAIA Basketball, Sioux City wanted to remain a host site for the Women’s Championship,” said Corey Westra, current NAIA DII Women’s Basketball Co-Tournament Director. “March and NAIA Basketball in Sioux City is a tradition here and we wanted to keep that tradition going with one division in the NAIA.”

The current format features a 32-team field. The new format will feature 16 women’s teams and 16 men’s teams.

The 2019 NAIA Division II Women’s National Championship will take place March 6-12. Championship passes and single-game tickets are on sale now at the Tyson Events Center Box Office, online at tysoncenter.com, or by calling 855-333-8771.
