Sioux City joined more than 500 other locations in the “Night to Shine” event, Friday night.

It is an unforgettable prom night experience for people with special needs, 14 and older.

“Night to Shine Sioux City” was held at the Sunnybrook Community Church. It is part of the Tim Tebow Foundation.

223 teens with special needs were matched up with 223 people for a night of fun dressed up for prom. This is the second year for the event in Sioux City. “I had a pretty normal traditional prom experience, and it was a lot of fun,” said Simeon Moes, “Night To Shine” Buddy. “And, to miss out on something like that, it is upsetting and if I can help someone have that experience I’d love to. I did this last year and to be honest you have just as much fun as they do. It’s a blast.”

The first “Night to Shine” was held in 2015. Worldwide, 90,000 teens were expected to take part in the event.
