SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – On Sunday afternoon, a presentation of Show and Tell took place at the Sioux City Public Museum.
Beginning at two, the presentation called “Show and Tell Made in Sioux City” entertained locals.
The presentation was one of two series of show and tell events.
The previous show was all about toys.
Saturday afternoon’s presentation feaured items manufactured in Siouxland.
Locals were encouraged to bring in items from years ago that were made right here in Siouxland.
Flower bags, old cracker boxes and cigars were just some of the items shown off to the audience.
With the help of the museum, locals were able to uncover the history of their family heirloms created in Sioux City.
“I think its so fascinating, Sioux City has this great tradition of Manufacturing but also of business advertising and sometimes the business advertising is so neat and i think there’s such a diversity of things made in sioux city that people today might not know how many things were,” says Tom Munson, the archives Manager for the Sioux City Public Museum.
According to the museum, Sioux City was the largest manufacturing center in Iowa from the 1890s all the way to the 1960s.
