Norfolk’s Grand Theater sold to Conover Properties

NORFOLK, Nebraska (KTIV) – A downtown Norfolk landmark is getting a new lease on life.

The former Grand Theater was recently purchased by Conover Properties, LLC. Officials from Conover Properties said they are looking to create commercial, office and residential space in the former theater.

The theater was donated to the Norfolk Community Theater (NCT) in 2005. NCT had hoped to renovate the theater into a performing arts space, but fundraising fell short.

The building was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Ben and Sarah Conover of Conover Properties are also working on renovating The Depot in Norfolk and the Madison Opera House.

“Over the past four years, Sarah and I have had the privilege of renovating several beautiful, historic buildings in surrounding communities,” sadi Ben Conover. “We are passionate about preserving the history and bridging the gap between what used to be and what could be. Now, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to take one of the most historic buildings in Norfolk and make it functional again for generations to come.”
