Sioux City native set to take command of 185th Air Refueling Wing

(KTIV) – A Sioux City native will be taking command for the 185th Air Refueling Wing.

Colonel Mark Muckey will officially take command from Colonel Larry Christensen during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. for Saturday, March 2.

Muckey originally joined the 185th Fighter Wing in 1984. He initially joined the Air Guard as an enlisted member, before obtaining his commission and attending undergraduate pilot training.

Muckey is a KC-135 pilot and has served in various capacities, most recently as the Air National Guard Advisor to the Air Mobility Command Inspector General at Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, Mo.

Christensen has served as Wing Commander since 2014. He plans on continuing to work with the Iowa guard as the Chief of Staff of the Iowa Air National Guard at Camp Dodge near Des Moines.
