WESTFIELD, Iowa (KTIV) – The Big Sioux River continues to rise near Westfield.
Wind gusts in the area are extremely strong.
Highway 3 running into South Dakota and over the Big Sioux River is closed for the time being.
As of right now, the Big Sioux River is at 20.64 feet with “major flooding” taking place.
To put things into perspective, flood stage is at 16 feet.
The National Weather Service says the river will crest on Saturday at around 22 and a half feet.
The record for the river is at 25.6 feet.
