SIOUX CITY (KTIV) — Jim Lorenzen Field in Le Mars is undergoing a $4-million facelift. Field turf is being installed, along with a new track and a complete renovation. That’s why the Le Mars Track Invite had to find a new home this year, at Bishop Heelan’s Memorial Field.
There was a great finish in the boys 800 meters. East’s Ethan Burge edges SBL’s Jorma Schwedler by just over two-tenths of a second.
To the girls 100 meter dash. It’s freshman Holly Duax from Sioux City West who pulls away from the field and gets the win.
In the girls 400, Bishop Heelan’s Madison Jochum is the only one to finish in under a minute en route to a first place finish.
Its a one-two finish for SBL in the boys 110 meter hurdles. Max Murphy finishes first and Austin Freiberg finishes just behind him for second place.
“We started off the day with shuttle and we got first,” said Murphy. “And then me and Austin work super hard in practice to get to where we are and it’s all hard work to get to that point.”
In the girls distance medley, Sioux City North, anchored by freshman Nicole Zuehl takes first with a time of 4 minutes and 29 seconds.
Sioux City East was the girls team champion and Sgt. Bluff-Luton won on the boys title.
