Sioux City (KTIV) – Morningside won both games of a doubleheader with Northwestern on Saturday 5-2 and 2-1.
Game one was a pitchers dual early. Morningside’s Hallie Misiaszek tossed a complete game one-hitter. The senior tallied nine strikeouts in the win.
Northwestern got on the board first in the third inning courtesy of a wild pitch by Misiaszek. Emily Bosch scored from third giving the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.
The Mustang offense came alive in the sixth inning. A pair of RBI singles by Morgan Nixon and Cortney Joiner gave Morningside a 2-1 lead. They would score three more runs in the 7th to win 5-2.
Morningside went on to win game two 2-1. The Mustangs are now 12-2 in the GPAC. They play a doubleheader at Dordt Monday night. Game one is scheduled for 4:00 P.M.
