(NBC) – American Airlines is extending flight cancellations aboard all Boeing 737 Max Aircrafts until mid-August.
The airline is awaiting re-certification amid software updates and new training elements for the Max planes.
This is the latest extension of the 737 Max cancellations, previously canceling through April 24.
American estimates that the cancellations will affect approximately 115 flights per day through August 19.
American Airline executives say removing the planes until August will allow the company to better plan for the busy summer travel season.
Southwest Airlines has also canceled flights involving the 737 Max through early August.
