Laurens, IA man charged after threatening people with a gun in Storm Lake

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) – A Laurens, Iowa, man has been arrested after police say he threatened two people with a gun at a Storm Lake Walmart.

Twenty-one-year-old Christian Eberle, of Laurens, is charged with four counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and one count of carrying weapons.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Storm Lake Police Department was called to the Storm Lake Walmart store for a report of a person threatening people with a gun.

Police say people alleged that Eberle pointed a handgun with a green laser at two different people as they were exiting the store, following a argument inside the store. Police say the argument was connected to illegal drugs

No one was hurt.

Police was told Eberle fled from the store in a sedan with two other people.

He was found shortly before 2 a.m. in Albert City, Iowa.

Police searched his vehicle and found a custom built 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an attached green laser sight, along with two high capacity magazines loaded with 80 rounds of ammunition.

The other two people in the sedan were questioned and released.
