SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Work continues to prepare land on Sioux City’s near-northside for the new Hunt Elementary School in 2022.
But, the existing building has to be torn down to make way for the new one. And you have the chance this weekend to say “good-bye” to Hunt School.
School officials will hold an open house on Sunday from noon-1:30 p.m.
“We want to give community members the opportunity to come into the building and take tours of the building, look through old scrapbooks, take pictures inside their favorite classrooms and just have time to say a fond farewell to the building that has helped serve us since 1906,” said Cami Barker, Hunt Elementary principal.
There is no RSVP required for the open house and former students parents, and all community members as welcome.
At the end of this year, students will begin attending school at the building that was formerly Crescent Park.
This will be the interim location for students and faculty until the new Hunt building is completed in August of 2022.
The new building is located in the same area as our current building but will have a larger footprint.
