BCU Cheer & Dance teams “sign” cancer survivor

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) – It’s a dream-come-true for a Sergeant Bluff, Iowa third grader. Breanna Svoboda is now a member of the Briar Cliff University Cheer and Dance teams.

The teams “adopted” Breanna during a ceremony at the university, Thursday night.

In 2014, at the age of 4, doctors diagnosed Breanna with a very large brain tumor. It was discovered by an MRI after weeks of headaches. Doctors located the tumor, did surgery, and were able to remove much of it. But, Breanna also suffers from muscular dystrophy.

Thursday’s signing ensures that Breanna will be able to practice with Briar Cliff’s Cheer and Dance team, watch them cheer at football and basketball games, and watch competitions.
