With the school year winding down, we’re less than two weeks away from the start of the high school baseball season in Iowa. But two of Siouxland’s, and Iowa’s best quarterbacks are already looking ahead to their senior seasons.
West Sioux’s Hunter Dekkers said on Twitter that he has an offer from Central Michigan. That’s his first offer from an FBS school. In January, he received offers from Northern Iowa and South Dakota, and was also offered by South Dakota State last month.
Over the last two seasons, Dekkers has thrown for over 6,000 yards with 81 touchdown passes, leading West Sioux to back to back state championships. Last month he attended the Elite 11 quarterback camp in Atlanta.
Another top junior last season was Daniel Wright of Sgt. Bluff-Luton.
Less than ten days ago he received an offer from NCAA Division II Sioux Falls, where his brother Jackson is an offensive lineman. Wright has made visits to Iowa State, Minnesota, UNI and South Dakota State.
The 6’8″ Wright threw for over 2,400 yards last season and has 46 touchdown passes over the last two seasons.
