(NBC News) – Whole body MRI could help reduce the time it takes to determine the stage of certain cancers.
British researchers tracked 500 patients recently diagnosed with colorectal or lung cancer.
They found whole body MRI correctly detected the size of tumors and how much they had spread five to six days fasters than standard imaging.
That means patients could begin appropriate treatment more quickly.
Whole body MRI was also significantly cheaper than CT, PET or Focused MRI scans.
