SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Sioux City’s Leif Erikson Park disc golf course is now open to the public.
This will be the third disc golf course in Sioux City.
Matt Salvatore, the director of Sioux City’s Parks and Rec Department, says it is an “intermediate” course.
He says this type of disc golf course is something a lot of people had expressed an interest in at Leif Erikson.
The department partnered up with the Mayor’s Youth Commission to make the new course a reality.
The Mayor’s Youth Commission raised the funds for the entire nine-hole course, and the Parks and Rec staff designed and installed the course.
“Disc golf has a strong following, so in this case we thought it was a very valid thing, and an easy project we could accomplish with everyone’s help,” said Salvatore. “We are happy to be moving forward with that.”
The course is free and open to the public.
All you need to bring is a disc for a quick round of nine.
