SERGEANT BLUFF, IA (KTIV) — You won’t have to look hard to see Sgt. Bluff-Luton at the boys state track meet this week. The Warriors will be competing in 15 events. SBL has some of the best times in the state in Class 3A.

Jorma Schwedler has the top qualifying times in 3A in three events, the 100, 200 and 400 meters. The junior will run in all three of those prelims between 1 and 2 o’clock on Thursday. SBL’s Max Murphy has the top qualifying time in the 110 meter high hurdles. His time of 14-point-63 seconds at districts broke a 34-year-old school record, which was a big relief.

“I was so nervous before this race but getting out there and running with my teammate who got second, it will be great to be at state,” said Murhpy. “I have all the motivation in the world. I want to get those ten points for the team.”

Murphy will also run the 400 hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay. The state meet runs Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium.
