SIOUX CITY (KTIV)- A couple of new stores are being built on Sioux City’s north side.
Developers say an ALDI grocery store, near the intersection of Floyd Boulevard and Outer Drive, in the Northern Valley Shopping Center, is in the works.
Developers say by the second half of 2020, the ALDI will be complete.
Before that store opens though, a different store will have already opened its doors.
Sioux City Economic Developer Director, Marty Dougherty, says a Dollar Tree is currently being built on the north side.
It will be right behind the Jimmy John’s on Floyd Boulevard.
Next to the Pizza Ranch is another available lot.
Dougherty says this part of Sioux City’s north side is getting a lot more populated.
“I think what’s attracting a lot of the development here is the traffic numbers at the bridge and at the corner have really grown tremendously,” says Marty Dougherty, Sioux City Economic Development Director. “It’s kind of as much as Hamilton Blvd. now. So that’s attracting more and more attention- we’ve got several more prospects looking at the lots still available here.”
Doughtery says now that the number of traffic is going up, these spots will fill up fast.
He adds he thinks we will see more development towards Highway 75 as well.
Matt Lilla, Faribault division vice president says the new ALDI will be opening in Sioux City in 2020 and is part of a $3.4 billion investment to expand to 25-hundred stores nationwide, by the end of 2022.
