(NBC News) – Birth rates in the U.S. dropped to another record low last year.

New government data shows there were roughly 3.7 million births in 2018. That’s down 2 percent from 2017.

Birth rates declined for nearly all age groups of women under 35 years.

Rates rose for women in their late 30’s and early 40’s.

The number of teen births continued to decline, dropping another 7 percent last year.

C-Section deliveries also decreased after a brief uptick in 2017.

However, Pre-Term births increased for the fourth year in a row.
