ARNOLDS PARK, Iowa (KUOO) – One of the Iowa Great Lakes most historic attractions opens for the season this weekend.
The Abbie Gardner Cabin and Museum is located at 71 Monument Drive, about a block or so west of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
The attraction is managed by the Iowa Historical Society.
Kiley Roth of the Dickinson County Conservation Board, which operates and staff the attraction, says they have docents on hand to talk about the attraction and the Spirit Lake Massacre.
”It is reminiscent of some of the earliest settlers here in the Iowa Great Lakes Area as well as some stories of the native people who were here before them,” said Roth. “So if you are real interested in history or love the Iowa Great Lakes Area and want to learn about some of the earliest people here, this is a really great place to visit.”
The Abbie Gardner Cabin and Museum will through Labor Day weekend.
It will be open through Labor Day weekend Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 Noon until 4:00 pm.
