11th annual ‘Tourist In Your Own Town’ back this summer

SIOUX CITY – (KTIV) An annual summer tradition is back again this year to help promote all that Siouxland has to offer.

“Be A Tourist in Your Own Town” promotes 22 locations around the Siouxland area.

Participants can pick up “passports” at any of the locations, and receive stamps at each one they visit.

Stamps can be exchanged for prizes, with a grand prize of a stay-cation at Stoney Creek Inn, 300 3rd St.

Enzo Carannante, Assistant General Manager and Director of Marketing for the Tyson Events Center and Orpheum Theatre, says it’s a great way to explore Siouxland.

“There are tons of great museums, tons of great community organizations and there are great people that run them,” he said. “So, even just stopping at the businesses and attractions and getting to talk to those people is a great opportunity to learn more about your community that you live in or that you’re visiting.”

Carannante adds “passports” can be picked up at any of the participating locations.

Some sites include Palmer’s Candy, the Children’s Museum, local public libraries and more.
