SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Exploration was the name of the game Wednesday at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City.
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City launched Exploration Wednesdays this week.
Officials at the center launched ‘Exploration Wednesdays’, allowing kids of all ages a chance to explore a person or event from the Lewis and Clark Expedition by participating in hands-on activities.
Each week will have a different theme for kids to learn about life during the expedition.
The events will be every Wednesday through July 26
“We really take inspiration from Lewis and Clark and turn it into kid-friendly activities so kids in the community can get out of the house, have some fun while they’re learning a little bit about their own history,” said Sara Olson, history education coordinator.
There are two separate times for these events each Wednesday.
10 a.m. will be open to kids first grade and younger, and 11 a.m. will be open to kids second grader and older.
Wednesday’s theme was Wobbly Wagons and Adventures, teaching kids about transportation and frontier-themed games.
