(KTIV) – The body of an Elk Point man found in a burnt out ditch in Union County, South Dakota, Wednesday afternoon has been identified.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man as 96-year-old Bernard Hall of Elk Point.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday authorities were called to a report of a body being found in a burnt out ditch just south of County Road 1-B, a quarter of a mile on 480th Avenue.
The fire was still burning in the ditch when Jefferson Fire and North Sioux City Rescue arrived.
The sheriff’s office says Hall was burning the field and road ditch where his body was found.
A cause of death has yet to be determined.
