2 people charged in May boating incident at Brown’s Lake

SALIX, Iowa (KTIV) – Officers with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have filed charges and warnings in a May 25 boating incident on Brown’s Lake that left two people injured.

Nicole Baker was cited for violating speed and distance rules and issued a warning for a boat registration violation. Chad Riker has also issued a warning for a boat registration violation.

Authorities say on just before 4 p.m. on May 25, 17-year-old Andreanna Hamman, of Sioux City, and 39-year-old B.J. Baker, of Lawton, were tubing on the lake and being pulled by a boat driven by Nicole Baker. Their tube struck a stationary boat operated by Riker.

Hamman and B.J. Baker were hospitalized following the incident.
