Comedian Jon Stewart tears into Congress over 9/11 victims fund

Standing up for the first responders that put their lives on the line during 9/11, a furious Jon Stewart slammed a nearly empty room of lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

For failing to show up to a hearing on the 9/11 victims’ compensation fund, that was set up after the attack to support the victims and their families.

Jon Stewart said,  “Behind me a filled room of 9/11 first responders and in front of me, a nearly empty congress…It’s an embarrassment to the country and it is a stain on this institution. You should be ashamed of yourselves for those that aren’t here.”

The fate of the proposed bill to extend the fund is still unclear.

Stewart says some lawmakers’ actions or lack of are downright disrespectful.
