MAURICE, Iowa (KTIV) – Gov. Kim Reynolds made a stop in Siouxland Wednesday to sign a proclamation for Dairy Month.
Reynolds toured J and S Dairy in Maurice, Iowa, Wednesday morning, and saw first-hand the impact dairy farmers have on Iowa.
She saw technology being used to help milk the cows.
She also signed a proclamation declaring June as Dairy Month in Iowa.
She says dairy farmers are important to Iowa’s economy, and there’s more that can be done to grow the industry.
“One of the areas that I talked about was bringing more processing to the state of Iowa and that’s a way that I think that we make the industry, we can help with the growth and help to help our farmers expand the number of cows that they’re milking and grow the industry. So we’re going to continue to look where we can be a partner to drive that,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds says the proclamation is a great way to educate people about dairy farmers in Iowa.
