ALTON, Iowa (KTIV) – Washington D.C. Congressman Steve King hosted a town hall meeting in Alton on Saturday to speak on a number of topics.

Congressman King opened the meeting talking about his hopeful plans for the future of America.

He spoke about immigration, the second amendment, and the USMCA Trade Agreement.

“We need to get that done so we’ve got more leverage to negotiate with China. I think China is trying to slow-walk the trade agreement into the next presidential race, that seems to be what’s going on. Otherwise, we’re thankful that we were able to get in the field and get most of our work done here,” said Congressman King.

Towards the end of the meeting, Congressman King answered various questions from the audience.

One topic he was hoping to cover was not brought up by anyone.

“The tension in the Strait of Hormuz with Iran. I was a little surprised nobody asked that question, but it is a very volatile circumstance over there right now. We don’t know how things might break, but it looks like the Iranians did commit the attacks on the tankers that were detonated there and on fire in the Straits,” said Congressman King.

King hopes to host another town hall meeting in Sioux City within the year.
