LINCOLN, Nebraska (KTIV) – A Sioux City man charged in the deaths of his former girlfriend’s parents in Nebraska was found dead in his jail cell.

According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, 36-year-old Brindar Jangir died Sunday at the Lincoln Correctional Center.

Officials say at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, staff members found Jangir unresponsive in his cell from an apparent suicide attempt.

Jangir was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m. on Sunday

Jangir was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony, in the deaths of 56-year old Randal Grimes and his wife, 51-year-old Annette Grimes, of Douglas.

Officials say the couple was found dead in their home after reports of gunshots on March 23.

Authorities say Jangir used a stolen shotgun to kill the couple.

The affidavit says his girlfriend told officers Jangir threatened to kill her and her parents if she ever left him.
