LAWTON, Iowa (KTIV) – The Lawton Firefighters Association has received a nearly $1,400 grant from the Siouxland Community Foundation for new equipment.
The funds will be used for a pair of glass cutters for the department, courtesy of the United Airlines Trust Fund.
Lawton authorities say in 2018 vehicle standards changed to help eliminate the potential of people being ejected from vehicles during crashes.
As a result, they say many vehicle manufacturers use laminated glass in the entire vehicle and not just in windshields. They say this can make rescue extractions difficult.
