Police say one of two victims is dead after a stabbing incident in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) –  Two people were rushed to local hospitals after a stabbing on Sioux City’s west side, on the evening of Thursday, July 11. Police say one of those victims has died.

Just before 7:00 p.m., Sioux City Police and Sioux City Fire Rescue, responded to a stabbing at the 1700 block of Geneva Street. Officers say they found two men, who had sustained numerous stab wounds.

One victim was found on the lawn of the Sanford Center and the other under a bridge that spans Perry Creek.

One of the men, who has not yet been identified, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital.

The other man, identified by police as 45-year-old Eleazar Lopez-Martinez of Sioux City was later pronounced dead at the hospital, from apparent knife wounds.

It’s believed the injuries sustained by the men were the result of a physical conflict between the two of them.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation continues.
