NIOBRARA, Nebraska (KTIV) – Like many communities, March’s flooding took a toll on the town of Niobrara, Nebraska.
But some local business owners have decided to throw a beach party to brighten the mood and hopefully, bring more people to the community.
“It’s just a different type of year, with the bridges gone on the west side. People aren’t coming as much, and we really need people to come,” said Diane Krupicka, co-owner of Niobrara Adventures.
According to Krupicka, the party is free for everyone and will be held Saturday, July 20 from noon – 6 p.m. at Niobrara Adventures, 88772 NE-14 in Verdigre. A shuttle bus at Pease General Store, 25410 Park Ave. in Norfolk, will be available to take people to the event.
Activities will include everything from cornhole competitions, sand sculptures, inflatable bull riding, kids games, and beach volleyball.
But if none of those events is your thing, you can always simply just head on over and relax on the beach.
“So much devastation has happened in Niobrara with the floods. We just want a day of enjoyment for people of this community, and people to come to this community. We just want people to have a day of joy again,” said Krupicka.
The party hosts say local businesses have donated prizes for the different competitions.
They expect it to be a day of fun, games, and a good way to just relax, and forget your troubles for a while.
