LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) – On Tuesday, the Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce invited the community for a sneak peek of the Round Barn Exhibit at the Plymouth County Fair.
Every year the famous barn is transformed into a different theme chosen by a Chamber committee.
This year “Discover Dairy” is the sub-theme for the exhibit as part of the overall “Around the Farm in the Barn” theme.
New this year was a butter sculpture replica of the Tonsfeldt Round Barn.
The sculpture was created by Sarah Pratt, known as the “Butter Lady”, who also creates the “Butter Cow” that is featured annually at the Iowa State Fair.
“For us to be able to replicate something that is done at the State Fair but on a little bit smaller level, and to have Sarah Pratt the lady who does the Butter Cow you know feature some of her art at our fair and a structure that sits on our fair grounds every year to be able to put that in a butter sculpture that’s pretty cool and i know a lot of people are looking forward to that,” said Jordan Sitzmann, Vice President of the Committee.
Exhibit coordinators say the butter sculpture will be their biggest attraction this year.
The Plymouth County Fair opens it’s five-day run on Wednesday.
